Best things to do in Rolling Hills LA

Palos Verdes Peninsula

Rolling Hills is very much a residential community located in the Palos Verdes Peninsula of Los Angeles and seen as one of the best places to live in California. So you are asking why should I go to a residential community?

Well there are actually some things to do around there. Also fun fact, Steven Spielberg is a resident of this area. If it can attract one of the most successful film directors ever, it must be doing something right. In this blog post we will cover the main things you should visit or do in Rolling Hills.

Palos Verdes Peninsula

You have to explore the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula. There are stunning views of the Pacific Ocean along with Catalina Island. If you enjoy hiking there is a route you can do which is around 7 miles but be warned it is not flat paths and you need to watch your step along the way. When taking this route you should not bump into too many people.

South Coast Botanical Garden, Palos Verdes Peninsula, United States

South Coast Botanic Garden

Located adjacent to Rolling Hills, the South Coast Botanic Garden is a 87-acre botanical oasis featuring a wide variety of plant species, gardens, and trails. You can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the manicured gardens including the Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, and Desert Garden.

The garden often hosts seasonal events and exhibits, such as flower shows and art installations.Unfortunately this isn’t a free activity, prices are around $15 for adults and children about $5.

Trump National Golf Club

I didn’t think I would ever recommend something associated with Donald Trump as one of the best things to do, but here we are. If you are a golf enthusiast you can tee off and shout four at the Trump National Golf Club, situated on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

This picturesque course offers stunning ocean views and a challenging 18-hole layout. Even if you’re not a golfer, you can still enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding area and have a meal at one of the club’s restaurants.

Terranea Resort

Terranea Resort

Yes, it’s an expensive hotel I get it. But this place, if you can afford it, is well worth staying at and living like one of the many rich locals in this area of LA.

A room here will start at around $650 for their cheapest offering but for a special occasion a night or two might be worth it. You are literally staying on the cost with a huge pool to enjoy and the standard and customer service is top notch.

Horseback Riding

Not something you can do everywhere and to be honest not one for me. But for a lot of people this will be a great experience and something they have never done before. If you are going to do this for the first time I don’t think you could ask for a nicer place to do so.

You can join a guided tour and lessons if required, this is certainly a pretty cool way to experience the natural beauty of this part of LA.

Palos Verdes Art Center

This center is a non-profit visual arts school and gallery. The Palos Verdes Art Center is a cultural institution located in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. It serves as a hub for visual arts, offering a range of exhibitions, educational programs, and community events.

To enter the standard gallery is free but any specific exhibitions / events might be paid for but in any case you should leave a donation if you have enjoyed what you have seen and support the cause.

Abalone Cove Beach

Abalone Cove Park

This is seen as another national park and to visit you have to pay apart from the first 30 mins. You have access to two beaches which are Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove beach. There are also a lot of different trails for you to hike if that is of interest.

Like the Palos Verdes Peninsula hike above you will see stunning views of the ocean and Catalina Island.

Summary

So there aren’t many attractions around Rolling Hills but there are plenty of outdoors activities and trails in and around this area to do. In most cases there are entry fees so it’s worth researching in advance to make sure you get value for money especially if you are on a tight budget.

I think you can easily cover the area in a full day. But if you can afford the stay at the ‘Terranea Resort’ I would certainly take that option and enjoy their facilities.
