Hannover

Hannover is a bit of a hidden gem in Germany. I’ve visited the city more than 20 times for family reasons and it is what you would consider as a typical, nice, chilled, traditional German city. A little boring for some but just the right balance for others. The airport makes it accessible and it’s well linked to other big cities such as Bremen and Hamburg in the North which are both less than 2 hours away by train or car.

In Hannover you get decent blend of historic charm and modern, busier city life. It’s a very green city. The stunning Herrenhausen Gardens are a jewel in its crown for visitors as it’s a baroque masterpiece of a palace.

There’s a picturesque old town with cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses for those Insta-friendly snaps. The city museums are decent for a spot of culture but Hannover also comes alive with a decent nightlife scene too. There are quite a few trendy cocktail bars, jazz clubs to enjoy live music and some pocket friendly night clubs . The lively district of Linden is generally a place for a good time.
